Dr. Vivek Vij is one of the top liver transplant surgeons in India with over 25 years of experience in liver transplantation and liver-related surgeries.

He is the first Indian liver surgeon to publish a study on laparoscopic liver donations in the respected journal (Liver Transplantation), and the youngest surgeon in India to complete 800 independent liver transplants with the lowest rate of bile duct complications.

Also, he specializes in treating complex conditions like Budd-Chiari syndrome and metabolic diseases in children.

He has even performed liver transplants on infants as young as 6 months and on patients weighing up to 130 kg, and first to perform a posterior sector graft harvest in liver donation.

Dr. Vij and his team have successfully performed over 4,000 liver transplants, and they have a 97% success rate for patients and a 100% success rate for donors.

He is the founder of the Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Sciences department at Fortis Group of Hospitals, and he started a training program for young surgeons and medical staff.

Additionally, he has written and presented over 50 research papers at national and international conferences, and his research focuses on living donor liver transplants and managing liver diseases with medication as well.

In 2015, he received a special award at the International Liver Transplant Society (ILTS) in Chicago.

Dr. Vij is known as one of the best donor surgeons in India, as he introduced advanced techniques like precaval dissociation and laparoscopic donor surgeries.

He was also the First Indian selected for the Roche Liver Transplant Training Program at the University of Alabama, performed liver transplants in Uttar Pradesh, performed cavo-atrial anastomosis in India, and performed combined liver-kidney transplants for children with a rare disease (hyperoxaluria).
