Dr Dinesh Nayak is a senior consultant neurologist and epileptologist with over 28 years of experience.
He has many years of experience in treating patients with epilepsy and other neurological disorders.
Dr Nayak has been deeply involved in epilepsy surgery programmes. At the famous R. Madhavan Nayar Centre for Comprehensive Epilepsy Care, SCTIMST, he has taken part in the pre-surgical evaluation of more than 2,000 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. His key areas of expertise include video-EEG monitoring, pre-surgical evaluation of difficult-to-treat epilepsy, vagal nerve stimulation, and intracranial EEG monitoring.
He completed his MD in Internal Medicine with the S.M. Munirathinam Chetty Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in the final exam, and then trained in Neurology DM at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST).
In 2000, he received the Dr PN Berry Scholarship and trained at King’s College Hospital, London, UK, in intracranial EEG and video-EEG.
Dr Nayak has also served as faculty for the annual video-EEG Master Class at King’s College Hospital, London.
In 2010, he started a strong epilepsy surgery programme in Chennai, where over 200 epilepsy surgeries (both temporal and extratemporal), including intracranial EEG with subdural grids and stereo-EEG depth electrodes, have been performed.
He regularly manages a wide range of acute and chronic neurological conditions, teaches postgraduate students in medicine and neurology, and conducts EEG and video-EEG workshops across India.
Dr Dinesh Nayak has published many research papers in national and international journals, won several best paper awards at national conferences, and has served on the editorial board of the Annals of the Indian Academy of Neurology as well.
