His educational background is an MBBS from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, an MD in Medicine from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, and a DM in Neurology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

His area of expertise lies in treating Headaches, Forgetfulness, Nerve Pain, Tremors, Brain Hemorrhage, Neurological Problems, Schizophrenia, and Brain Injury.

Dr. (Lt Gen) CS Narayanan was designated as an Honorary Surgeon to the President of India.

He submitted a report to the Honorable President of India detailing the execution of Telemedicine for soldiers stationed in distant combat posts of the Armed Forces.
