The Government Medical College and Hospital in Patiala awarded him his MBBS. At the same time, Sardar Patel Medical College in Bikaner granted him his MD in General Medicine and the National Board of Examination in New Delhi conferred upon him his DNB in Neurology.

He has over five years of post-DNB clinical Neurology experience, gained while working as a Consultant neurologist at Max Hospital, Mohali, and the Institute of Human Behaviour and Associated Sciences (IHBAS), Delhi.

He belongs to numerous professional organizations, including the Indian Academy of Neurology, the American Academy of Neurology, the European Academy of Neurology, the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), the Indian Association of Physicians, the Indian Medical Association, and the Indian Medical Association.
