Dr. Meenu Walia is a well-known cancer specialist and the first DNB Medical Oncologist in India, with over 35 years of experience.
She has successfully performed more than 1,00,000 cancer patients from India and other countries, and she focuses mainly on women’s cancers and supportive care for patients.
She also treats abdominal cancers, digestive system cancers, leukemia, lymphoma, and performs cell transplants as well.
Along with this, Dr. Walia is also a researcher, teacher, and mentor. She writes for medical journals, trains young cancer doctors through DNB programs, and speaks at important events like ASCO, ESMO, and ICON.
She understands how cancer affects people emotionally and socially, which is why she started support groups like:
“Aashayein”, a group that gives emotional support and hope to patients and their families.
“Nidarr Hamesha”, a platform for cancer survivors to inspire patients to fight bravely.
She also works with NGOs, starting health programs in villages, and leads awareness campaigns to teach women about early cancer detection and prevention.
Dr. Walia is actively involved in research on targeted therapies, immunotherapy, cancer recovery, and cancer care for older patients.
She has been honored with awards like the “Super Mother” award by the Indian Medical Association in Delhi and the “The Legends” Times Health Care Achievers Award in 2018.
Additionally, she has also written a book called “Tips for Happiness in the Shadow of Cancer”, published in many languages, and contributed to oncology chapters in other books.
