Dr. Vikas Jain received his advanced training in urology and renal transplantation at Nadiad's renowned Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital in Gujarat in 2009. He then went to Fundacio Puigvert in Barcelona (Spain) to learn more about kidney transplantation from deceased donors.

He has been in practice in Delhi for the past 14 years. Before joining the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in Delhi, he was employed at Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj. Dr. Jain is best known for starting kidney transplantation at ILBS after being approached to do so. 

He did so single-handedly, making it the only government hospital in Delhi to have a department of urology and kidney transplantation to this day. He spent six years lending his knowledge to the cause of getting the division back on track. Dr. Jain was then given the opportunity to direct and serve as a senior consultant for the renal transplant programs at both Narayana Health centers in the Delhi/National Capital Region. In his 14 years of practice, Dr. Jain has performed nearly 1100 successful kidney transplants.

In addition, he has performed countless urologic surgeries and founded or guided transplantation programs at nearly twenty-five medical facilities across eight states. 

His life's work has been spent passing on his expertise to others through training and teaching others to perform complex urological, laparoscopic, and transplant surgeries. Dr. Jain is on the editorial board of Indian J Urol. He also helped establish the United Network for Organ Sharing's kidney transplant community. He has written 32 books and articles.
