Sir Ganga Ram Hospital

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital is a 675-bed facility providing comprehensive healthcare services to patients from Delhi and neighbouring states.

It is the only hospital in the private sector in India that has maintained nearly 100% bed occupancy due to its reputation for providing the highest level of medical services to patients.

Founded initially in 1921 in Lahore by Sir Ganga Ram (1851-1927), a civil engineer and leading philanthropist of his time, this hospital was established in New Delhi eleven years later.

The present-day hospital in New Delhi is built on a plot of land approximately 11 acres in size.

The foundation was laid in April 1951 by the then Prime Minister of India, Shri Jawaharlal Nehru, and inaugurated by him on 13 April 1954.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in India continues to maintain its charitable character and provides free health care to underprivileged patients.

The hospital has 20% of its beds reserved for the poor and needy, who receive boarding, lodging, and medicine at no cost.

It also has regular outpatient departments in all disciplines where certain procedures are provided free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

All development activities of the hospital are financed from internal resources, with no financial assistance provided by the government or other external agencies.
